Center for Advancement of NEXTGEN Deaf
Non-profitAt one of our core CANGD programs, ARCS, we provide advocacy supports to families with children who are Deaf and/or have hearing loss to help them navigate the Early Intervention, Preschool Transition, Special Education, Section 504, and other systems/processes designated to assist them. After a consult, we formulate a plan of action with the family to help ensure their child with hearing loss receives family-centered early intervention which aligns with their goals, a free & appropriate public education (FAPE), and accommodations, services, and supports which ensure effective communication access. When requested, we attend IFSP or IEP and other meetings with education & service provider partners. When necessary, we help families find special education & civil rights attorneys qualified to assist them. Our primary goal is to equip families to ensure children who are NEXTGEN Deaf have their unique needs, especially those related to the child's language, communication modality, and effective communication access appropriately met.

Non-profitThe Homicide Survivors Program (HSP) supports families and friends who have lost loved ones to murder or vehicular homicide. HSP's mission is to identify survivors in need of practical intervention and support following the murder of a loved one and to provide emotional and grief support. We also provide victims' advocacy and assist survivors as they navigate through the criminal justice system. Grief doesn't just go away with time, you have to work through it. One way to accomplish this is to connect with a person or group with whom you can talk freely and share your experience. We provide support groups that will connect you with those who understand what you are experiencing through all stages of the grief process. Additionally, our qualified staff are available to provide individual and family grief counseling, listen and assist you with specific questions you may have, and provide you with helpful resources and assist you with victim's compensation if available to you.

Transitions
Non-profitWe begin this process with a mental health assessment, that leads with a strength-based inventory and an evidence based mental status evaluation. This assessment focuses on the identification of strengths and weaknesses; the identification of familial, criminal and substance use history. The instrument provides the counselor and case manager with the opportunity to identify gaps in services and management of those resources deemed necessary as most beneficial for the individual. In turn, this process offers the individual a structured treatment plan and process and coordinated support through individual counseling and group sessions. Assessments: call for scheduling
